ChatGPT Custom Instructions
How to get more specific in ChatGPT custom instructions
Go to ‘Settings and Beta’
Click on ‘Beta Features’
Enable ‘Custom Instructions’
Within Custom Instructions, you’ll populate two fields:
About yourself (or who/what you want ChatGPT to interpret you as)
How you want ChatGPT to respond (who ChatGPT is/what parameters it should consider)
You know how it goes. You can be as specific as you’d like to be.
This tweet shows you a few examples:
The history major, get the GPT response in table format
The activist, express advocacy and cause
The teacher, get kid-friendly responses
The startup founder, focus on value proposition and revenue
The comedy writer, specify punch lines and dialogue
Pro tips:
Add strong keywords like “decision making,” “table format,” “historical data”
Be specific
Keep it concise
Iterate and experiment
Use examples
Finally, you can make ChatGPT sound the way you want it to without repetitive prompting.
